Process Engineer
Novatech is a large manufacturer of exterior sliding glass doors with multiple operations in North America including Ridgeway, Virginia. The company has been in operation for +40 years and is a well-established leader in the fenestration industry. The Ridgeway manufacturing facility involves processing and assembly of extruded PVC and aluminum lineals and insulated glass units in a single shift operation.
Our manufacturing facility in Ridgeway, Virginia is looking for Process Engineer.Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the following:
Job Duties: Drive continuous improvement in:
- Production process flow.
- Find opportunities to improve labor efficiency
- Reduce material waste
- Analyze the process and find ways to improve the flow; optimize, standardize and document
- Write SOPs.
- Work with management, engineers, and customers to develop new standards for production.
- Product requirements and technical standards.
- Utilize models to recommend manufacturing methods to meet these standards proficiently.
- Execute quality control processes to resolve problems in production cost-effectively.
- Information flow
- Develop an understanding of the current information flow
- Establish management control systems for cost analysis and optimal budget planning.
- Communicate with vendors about purchases, managers about manufacturing capabilities, clients on product specifications, and team members on project statuses.
- Development
- Develop further understanding of manufacturing methods by reviewing industry manufacturing techniques with the goal to identify potential new processes
- Collaborate with product development team to check design for manufacturability of new products.
- Ensure that products meet high quality standards by designing control systems for production.
Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Knowledge of production, materials in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, process improvements (DOE), Statistical Process Controls, Process capabilities studies, FMEA, process audits, Root Cause analysis, Problem Solving Techniques and other proactive quality management practices
- Microsoft Excel skills
- 2D, 3D CAD drawing software: Solidworks, AutoCAD
- ERP systems: Syspro, Oracle, SAP or similar
- CNC programing is an asset.
- Excellent analytical skills and problem solving
- Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
- Strong teamwork, communication and organization skills.
- Hands-on attitude and mechanically inclined
- Commitment to Health and Safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; Associate’s degree or diploma in related field considered
Experience:
- Process/Manufacturing Engineer in manufacturing facility
