Adjusting your patio door

Adjusting your patio door

Who doesn’t love patio doors? They’re so easy to open—that is, when they’re working like they should, which may require some adjustments to the finishing. Here’s our step by step guide to adjusting your patio door.

Sliding panels

Roller adjustment – 500 and 600 series

On most door models, you adjust the height using the screw holes, which are usually located at the bottom of the sliding panel on the inside of the door.

  • Remove the plugs covering the adjustment screw holes.
  • Adjust the height by tightening or loosening the roller screws using a Phillips head screwdriver (X-shape).

Roller adjustment – Aluminum series (Urbania, Loft, Element)

You can adjust the rollers on the Urbania door using the two holes visible on the sides of the sliding panel. The Loft door is adjusted exclusively on the meeting rail side.

  • Insert a 5 mm Allen key into each of the holes, then tighten or loosen the adjustment screw to raise or lower the Urbania door panel. Use a 4 mm key for the Loft door.
  • To check the adjustment, close the door, leaving a small gap. If the gap is the same size at the top and bottom of the door, the adjustment was made correctly.
  • Make sure that the weather stripping (the strip with the pile) is still touching the panel and frame.

  • Adjust the height by tightening or loosening the screws.

Mortise adjustment on sliding panels

  • Open the door and lock it so the hook (the mortise) comes out. For a double point mortise, you have to push the button to turn the latch mechanism and get the hooks out.
  • On the side of the door on the inside, tighten or loosen the screw that controls hook movement. For a double point mortise, you will need to adjust two screws (one per hook).

Kora handle adjustment (Loft)

If the handle appears crooked when the door is closed and locked, you can adjust it by following these steps:

  • Loosen the screw at the bottom of the panel.
  • Tilt the handle to straighten it.
  • Tighten the screw at the bottom of the panel.

Screens

The adjustment screws are on each side of the screen at the bottom.

  • Raise or lower the screen by tightening or loosening the screw using a Phillips head screwdriver (X-shape).
  • To check the adjustment, close the door, leaving a small gap. If the gap is the same size at the top and bottom of the door, the adjustment was made correctly.
